On Thursday 7th October, Borderline gallery will open a solo exhibition of talented Burmese artist Wunna Zaw entitled Artist And His Dancers. This unique exhibition showcases his diverse portfolio of work, that explores traditional dancing images through of water color mediums and styles.Artist wants to show to our audiance all about the Burmese female traditional dancers, their difficulty and their abality for their way of dancing. We as the viewer are invited to follow him through his personal artistic journey.

On Thursday 5th August, Borderline gallery will open a solo exhibition of Burmese artist Kyaw Kyaw Hein entitled SPRING RENEWAL. This unique exhibition showcases his diverse portfolio of work, that explores about the nature and the tradition of Burmese people expressed by the watercolour. He will let you see the beauty and the nature of Burmese people with his lovely simple style. He also expressed that he is an artist who love colours and shown with his colourful pictures. We as the viewer are invited to follow him through his personal artistic journey.

On 15th July 2010, Borderline shop will hold it’s 6th Anniversary birthday party. The event is wounded by the art exhibition and the special performance of the Babymime artists.

Many of Borderline’s mamber artists pertispate to show atheir different artworks which is made with different mediums for their Borderline Shop’s birthday party.
For this special exhibition their artworks are showing their different styles and influences . The artists used their medium to produce a different striking portfolio of images that reveal their unique sense of the world around them.

Babymime’s story
In 1999 4 young men, Nging Ta Glur and Jo, from different educational background, meet by destiny. They took a basic pantomime course, lectured by “Kon na khao” (The White face theatre group) Paitoon Laisakul, together. After Studying for awhile, They decided to create their own new style pantomime and called themselves “Babymime”. Nowadays Babymime has 3 main artists, which are Nging Ta and Glur. They creates and develops their comedic styled pantomime and performs their piece in many stages and festivals.

In 2003 Babymime became well-known in an international production by joining with overseas pantomime artists in “Pantomime in Bangkok” (6th), which appeared to be very successful among fans audiences and press as well. For street show, they invited to join in “International Street show in Bangkok 2008” For their performed at Pridi Banomyong Institute, Thong-Lor, such as “Babymime Show Vol.1(2008) and Vol.2(2009), both of which attracted more than 1,500 audiences. Last are performed, they invited from “Flipside Festival” at Singapore and more audiences in every show of them.

On Thursday 3rd June, Borderline gallery will open a solo exhibition of Burmese artist A Hein kyaw entitled Genesis of expression. This unique exhibition showcases his diverse portfolio of work, that explores both traditional and modern images through of water color mediums and styles. We as the viewer are invited to follow him through his personal artistic journey.

On Thursday 6th May, Borderline Gallery will be opening a very special exhibition entitled Two Become One.

Two Borderline member artists; Win Htet and Min Thiha Mon live with their young familes across the river in Myawaddy and Moulmein (the capital city of Mon State) for their first exhibition which is show together has produced a vibrant portfolio of Oil,Watercolour and Charcoal paintings.

The artist’s distinctive style invites us to step beyond the border and take a gentle journey through their homeland. Each painting provides the viewer with a vivid glimpse of Burma; that leave an enduring sense of her unique landscape.

MY STORY photo project: 5 years and counting…
150 participants, 16 exhibitions, thousands of images. The MY STORY photo project is proud to present its fifth annual exhibition at Borderline Gallery, Mae Sot, from April 8 through May 1.

Participants are given digital cameras, training in basic photo techniques, and photo assignments. Then they take pictures; lots and lots of pictures. At each training session, the photos are downloaded and critiqued by the group. They have edited their work so that each student is represented by two images in the exhibition. .

In 2010, workshops were held at Ban Huai Hin Fon elementary school, just outside Mae Sot, with 5th and 6th graders, mostly ethnic Karen. In Pyin Oo Lwin, Mandalay Division, our students ranged in age from 62 to 19 from a wide variety of backgrounds. In April, 2009, four of the project’s former students ran a photo workshop at Min Mah Haw Education Foundation. This served as their practice teaching and some of the images from that workshop are included.

Income from print sales is split 50/50 between the photographer and MSppa. The funds are used to purchase cameras for next year’s project.

On Thursday 4th March 2010,Borderline gallery will open Many Beats One Heart, an exhibition in honor of International Women’s day, March 8th. Like every year Borderline is proud to show a unique exhibition with the art of women for International Women Day.
Our talented artists are a blend of Thai, Burmese,American and English who live along the Thai-Burma border.
The exhibition explores traditional and modern interpretations of Burma through a woman’s eyes – utilizing a mixture of mediums search as works of collage, impressionistic photography, oil on canvas, acrylic,embroidery, batik, water color and more……

Opening reception will be held on Thursday March 4th in the evening between 6.00 and 9.00pm.The exhibition will go on until 17th, March 2010.

On Friday 19th February 2010, Borderline Gallery will open a special exhibition named ” Just Peace (Keeping Hope Alive)”. The show explores the lives of refugee people living here on the Thai Burma Border. The work has been created by three talented Karen artists who all reside in Umpium Camp, four hours drive from Mae Sot. Both Saw Moorah and Saw Saintdom utilise charcoals and acrylic to produce striking images of light and shadow, whilst Saw Kupaw workes with gentle watercolours, creating dream like landscapes. The trio take the viewer on a vibrant journey through Umpium, and allow you to be witness to not only their hardships and poverty, but also their hopes for a peaceful future.

A Borderline member artist; Soe Win lives with his family in the capital city of Mon State “Morlamine” and for his special one mam show has produced a vibrant portfolio of lovely watercolour and strong acrylic paintings.As he hald many exhibitions in his past time , this exhibition might be one of his interesting solo show wounded by many new inspirations of the artist Soe Win.

On Thursday 7th January 2010, Borderline gallery will celebrate the new year by opening a very special exhibition entitled Face To Face.
A young Borderline member artist; La Sam is an art teacher at BHSOH high school and specializes in teaching his students charcoal drawing techniques. For his second solo exhibition he has used this medium to produce a striking portfolio of images that reveal his unique sense of the world around him.

La Sam’s work introduces us to the many faces of Asia and encompasses people from every possible walk of life, the traditional, the young, the rich and poor right through to the celebrities, singers and actors that inspire modern day popular culture.
