Holiday Sale at Borderline GalleryFrom November 15, 2007 to January 15, 2008, all the women’s groups at the Borderline offered discounts on selected items to celebrate the holidays. For sales over 2000 Baht, Borderline gave a gift of a free drink. For sales over 3000 Baht, Borderline gave a gift of a pocket bag. Also for every art work that is purchased artists of the Borderline Gallery gave a free art card.

Exhibition: Feminist Art show (Dec 2007)

Buddha and his earnestness by Sein Sein LinOn Thursday 6th December 2007, Borderline opened a special – Feminist Art exhibition – of women, showcasing the work of three women artists from Borderline – Way Mar Nyunt, Hla Thida Win and Win Than Dar. All of these artists are from Yangon, Burma, and they are all well-known artists inside Burma. They have been invited especially by the curator of Borderline, Sein Sein Lin.

The exhibition closed on 20th December. For the opening reception, Borderline offered Burmese food and drinks supported by Borderline Tea Shop. As usual the opening reception was held in the evening between 6:00pm and 9:00pm.

This month’s exhibition in particular is a showcase of many of the women from Borderline Shop and inside Burma. They are created and expressed their emotion from through out their life.

Exhibition: Emerging Artists (Nov 2007)

Buffalo Boy by Saw Hsa Mu TawBorderline opened a special 2-week exhibition – Emerging Artists – on 1 November 2007. The exhibition closed on 15th November. For the opening reception, Borderline offered Burmese food and drinks supported by Borderline Tea Shop. As usual the opening reception was held in the evening between 6:00pm and 9:00pm.

The Emerging Artists show is for all the artists and their students working in exile on the Thai-Burma Border.

Exhibition: Points and Spectrums (Oct 2007)

New artist workshops

Borderline has begun to conduct workshops for artists to develop practical skills in preparing exhibitions, writing personal statements, life drawing and sharing other art techniques with each other. Some examples of workshops include:

  • How to prepare and use oil colours! (Lecturer Saw Chu Cil)
  • How to use knife! (Lecturer Htut Aung)
  • How to use charcoal! (Lecturer Saw Kennedy)
  • How to use acrylic! (Lecturer Saw Chu Cil)
  • How to sketch and draw Landscape! (Organizer Sein Sein Lin)
  • How do we paint portrait! (Lecturer Htut Aung)
  • How to use water colour! (Lecturer Saw Chu Cil)
